Nootka PAC is selling coffee from local roaster JJ Bean! Please see the poster below for details. The easiest way to order is through the hot lunch platform, Munch A Lunch. Log in and look for the Fundraising tab then select your coffee and pay. If you prefer to pay cash, please contact Nori for a paper order form and to arrange payment.

Order deadline is extended to April 5th, pick up will be in the week of April 17th! (Apologies for the previous error of April 2nd, should have read 2nd week of April!)

The PAC executive team will be presenting these updated Constitution and Bylaws to the general PAC at the upcoming January meeting. Please take a moment to review so that they can be voted in on Wednesday, January 25th. The agenda will be posted on this site in the week prior.

Draft Constitution and Bylaws

The Nootka PAC is excited to be bringing back Hot Lunch. We have our first event on Friday, December 9th. Please note this corrected date from the email that was sent out by the school. We have started using Munch a Lunch as the website to facilitate the ordering. You will need to create an account first, and then add (each of) your children. When placing an order, create the order for one child at a time, creating a separate order per child (if applicable), and then pay for the orders all together. Please go to the the Munch a Lunch website to get started.

Our first Hot Lunch order is open now with a tight deadline of Friday, December 2nd to complete.

The ordering deadline has now passed for Purdy’s and Growing Smiles. The pickup will be onsite before and after school on December 13th and 14th.

The minutes for our last meeting are now available on the website, with the next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 at 6:30pm. Please disregard the date of December 16th in December newsletter. (We know noone wants to go to a PAC Meeting on the last Friday of the school year.)

We have two great fundraisers to make your holiday shopping easier and to help support Nootka Elementary.

Purdy’s Chocolates

The return of a classic Nootka fundraiser. The link below will be active as of Nov 14th and will run until Nov 28th. Go to the Purdy’s site where you select and pay for your chocolates. Any orders that are not paid by closing on November 28th will not be processed. Please contact Nori nootkapacfundraising@gmail.com if you’d like to pay by cash and paper order form.

Pick up will be on Dec 13th and 14th at the school, likely before and after drop off and pick up. Goal is to raise $1500! The school makes a profit on all the sale. Please share the link with friends and family!

Growing Smiles

Another classic Nootka fundraiser, we are selling Gorwing Smiles Red and White Poinsettias($13.00) and Wreaths ($35.00). If you have ever bought these pointsettas in the past, you know how great they are. They will easily last into the new year.

Selling starts Nov 14th and runs until Nov 28th. Pick up will be on Dec 13th and 14th at the school, likely before and after drop off and pick up. Goal is to raise $500! Dear Nootka families,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself as the new chair of the PAC! My name is Niki and I am the mother of two kids who are both in the fine arts program. Myself and the newly elected exec team of the PAC are very enthusiastic to serve as the liaison between parents, students, and the school administration. The exec team is made up of parent volunteers, and we’re excited to start doing some fundraising and activities for the school!
My kids spent their first few years in a different school so I know from first hand experience the difference between a well funded school, and a not so well funded school.
I think we can all agree that Nootka is amazing. Not only is our staff and admin top notch, but our students have access to incredible musical instruments, art supplies, science projects and a fantastic computer lab. We’ve got some great sports teams and a ton of great sports equipment too.
Nootka used to be very well funded by its PAC and was not only able to fund the things mentioned above, but also to give each teacher spending money each year to provide for the little extras that would make their students’ learning experience that much more meaningful. 
It’s been a rough few years for all of us, and the PAC is no different. When Covid hit, the Nootka PAC had to put all fundraising and meetings on hold. The result – to put it bluntly, is that we’re out of money.
To that end, myself and the new PAC exec team have been working hard in the past 2 weeks and will be rolling out a hot lunch program ( Yes! it’s back! ) as well as some holiday fundraisers.
For now, please be aware of the following :
There is an ongoing Return It Express Bottle Drive. Simply bag up any recyclables you have in a clear bag. Take them to any eligible Return It  Center. Use their kiosk to print a label using the school phone number 604-713-4767 and stick it onto your bag. And voila! The Return It center will sort your recyclables and deposit the money straight into the Nootka PAC account. 
You can donate to the PAC via Paypal or VSB School Cash Online.
Our next PAC meeting is Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 6:30pm in the school library.
Next week we will be sending out a notice about the Purdy’s holiday chocolate fundraiser! Ordering will start November 14th and delivery will be the week of December 12th.

Nootka PAC is working to rebuild our funds this year in order to better support the teachers. In addition to a Direct Drive Fundraiser that will be forthcoming, we are running an ongoing bottle drive. Simply collect your empties that are eligible for return, package in a clear bag, and return to your local Return-It Express location. You can print bag labels on site using the Nootka Elementary phone number: 604-713-4767. We’re hoping to raise $5000 in bottles before the end of December! You can share the phone number with family and friends!
